Sunday 29th August meant the final day of my 3rd Edinburgh run and I think overall it’s been my most successful to date. Having been out fairly late the night before I was feeling tired for the final show but it would be wrong for me to be feeling entirely fresh after 16 gigs in a row.

Edfringe day 19: The end
August 31st, 2010Edfringe day 18: I am Pierre Victoire
August 29th, 2010After one of my later nights at the Fringe, the need to get up early to collect the hire car that will return us to London was something of a challenge. We got a taxi out of town to the rental place at around 8.30am, which in festival terms is practically the middle of the night, and picked up our Skoda.
Edfringe day 17: And now the end is near
August 28th, 2010Today’s show was a little bit odd, there was a girl drawing in the front row, on a pad and although it shouldn’t have put me off, it did throw me a little. Some of the early banter didn’t go down as well as usual with the audience and it felt like I had to work quite hard to get people in to things.
Edfringe day 16: Because they arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
August 27th, 2010After seeing Gutted on Wednesday night it was a slightly later start than normal, I managed to get out and flyer for about 11am, although a little colder than the week before it was a lovely day in Edinburgh.
I bumped in to Craig who went to school with Ruth while I was out and he came to the show along with his girlfriend who’s here performing and producing a play.
Edfringe day 14: Le Sac vs Pip
August 25th, 2010Another grey day in Edinburgh and noticeably colder too. I was a lot better rested for the show and sharp enough to have some banter with the audience. Our friend Kevin (who features in the show) was in today but had to dash of directly afterwards to catch his train.
Edfringe day 12: Shift changeover
August 23rd, 2010It was a lovely day in Edinburgh yesterday, sunshine, blue sky, but there didn’t seem to be all that many people up and about to see the start of it. I assume this was due to some heavy nights on the Saturday. I can’t pretend I was on top flyering form and the show wasn’t full – which was after a few days of standing room only.
Edfringe day 11: Girls vs boys
August 22nd, 2010The number of people in Edinburgh had definitely grown even more overnight and there were constant waves of them coming past me as I flyered in the morning. There are quite a few shows that ended last night, the last week in Edinburgh always feels a little bit different, for many it’s the relief of having survived, but as I started my run a week in I’m still in relatively good shape this year, wishing it would all carry on a bit longer…
Edfringe day 10: Rain or shine
August 21st, 2010With a fresh influx of people having long-weekends at the Fringe I got out early to promote my show, I thought it had gone pretty well and with the city really busy I was expecting the show to be pretty much full – especially as Thursday had been standing room only. Somehow though my charm mustn’t have quite worked yesterday as although it was fairly busy there were still a few seats left.
Edfringe day 9: Filming
August 20th, 2010Today BBC Arabic were filming the show and interviewing me, I started the day down at the Half-Price Hut with then filming me handing out flyers as part of the background for the piece.
Instead of playing things entirely safe for the filming I made a few changes to the show just to try and improve it in a couple of places.
Edfringe day 8: Silver Stewbilee
August 19th, 2010Yesterday’s show was great, a really lovely audience and having not drunk much the day before I put in a clear-headed and fairly sharp performance. Perfect way to start the day.
Obviously I’d had a cold and unpleasant shower before this point but this is now as much part of my routine as the banana I eat half way through handing out flyers.
